    Angry Needing parts opinions etc..

Sorry about having so many noob questions, but i cant keep track of all the 4age info and shit, why cant someone make up a wiki-type page? would seriously have saved me half my questions.

    I wanna know:
    1. Which are the engines with the 18mm small ends, and the crank size.
    2. Which blocks have different crank sizes.
    3. Will "20mm pin dia" rods have the bigger bigend?
    4. Are GZE rods a 20mm pin? And useable with what crank?

    Aims:

I am wanting to rebuild my 4age, I have a shit 3 rib block with 2 busted water pump mounting screws. I am looking into buying a 7-rib block, will I need the specific crank that came in that block? With the main caps in the right order? facing the same way?

Getting a 7-rib block, is there different sized crank 7-ribs?

All I need to know is, which block I can use, whether it will need the original crank it came with and caps etc, which I can just find some gze rods, or w/e has a 20mm pin and buy forged 20mm pin pistons, and build my engine >.<

    1. Bigport 4AGE's (AE86, AE82, AW11), and possibly the early early model GZE AW11 (although i've never seen them).

    2. Bigport 4AGE's have smaller rod journals --- but smallport 4AGE's, all GZE's (except that possible early GZE), silvertop 20V, blacktop 20V are the same.

    3. Yes they will.

    4. Yes they are - useable with all of the cranks as mentioned in "2."

    --------

If you are looking at getting rid of the 3-rib block, and want to rebuild it, just buy ANY 7-rib block that's in good condition. There are three different rod sizes with the 7-ribs - The biggest come in the AE92 4AGE, and AE92 4AGZE. The middle-sized rod comes in AE101 20V and AE101 4AGZE. The skinniest rods are just in a AE111 20V.

If I buy a block, will I need the crank and main caps for it? My dad says they usually all have to stay together :/ I don't have much knowledge in building engines as this will be my first..

Okay, so if I get a 7-rib block, any crank I buy will fit it? and all the cranks have the same diameter? which rods would I use with a bigport head? ae92 4agze rods?

Sorry, I just have a hard time getting my head around it.. :/

    Any crank will fit.
They all have the same mains diam.
The rods you choose have nothing to do the head??? You want the 42mm/20mm rods so you can forgies off the shelf. Any smallport/silvertop/gze rod will do except for the possible aw11 bigport gze which maybe has the 18mm rods.
