Its not a fucking EJ20
my thoughts have changed on it
all great sports cars have great engines
I dont think an NA EJ20 in a toyota is a great engine. Especially not in 2012!
I like it, but I cant LOVE it

Not EJ20 it is a FA20 engine (correct of im wrong) reworked and re-engineered by Yamaha/Toyota and Subaru etc, same engine mounts thou as a ej20 but the rest has had the magic wand passed over it.
147kw is not all that great by today's standards but i feel with 12.5CR & open ecu there is room to improve that somewhat.

toyota did not build this to be a powerhouse. they tried to stay to the roots of what the sprinter was, cheap, light, rwd, n/a. look at our cars. people are stoked with like 80hp

I stand corrected about the engine name, but my point remains the same
12.5 is too high to turbo properly
and no one has ever done good things NA with the EJ series.
They will be swapped out for wrx motors and the car will be loved in the US and once again people will lose sight of what the car is about or represents
Its the first car born in the 'internet age' and japan dont necessarily have a head start in parts either. (ie. Japan was making S13 aftermarket stuff for 15 years before china really caught on)
Guess time will tell

They are also trying to make it at an affordable entry price...
just read that it is using the subaru pcd of 5x100 which is a shame
