Fuel gauge problems AE86

Hi Guys,
Im having trouble with my fuel gauge on my AE86, it seems to just float around where ever it wants to.

I have already removed my fuel sender unit and bent the sweeper (which is attached to the float) a little to make sure it is making contact, but it has not fixed the problem.

Has any one experianced this problem and if so is there a way to fit it?
Also are there any fuel sender units from other toyota's etc that would fit a AE86?

As i was told, being almost 30 yrs old, chances are your senders the problem. Mine works on full tank when stationary, stops working 15 mins of driving and works again on my last quarter, never bothered to pay couple hungy for another one, go by kilometers.

Same thing here. Last quarter is all you need. I just write down the km's and keep a track on fuel usage.

My gauge dosnt do shit! I just wait for the fuel light to come on then pull into the nearest servo

I am still curious tho... Is there a fix?

My low fuel light is always on... Any ideas on how to make it work properly again?
It worked fine a few months ago
