take it to regency already......
i am impressed.....you know how hard that is for me to say
Oh, it is. And here are some pictures that may actually illustrate it thanks to a P+S camera, not an iphone.
Note the poor paint match on the RHF 1/4. I am 100% ok with this.
It's missing the Toyota badge off the hatch. Same as XT130, so i'll grab one from the picky wreckers.
Immaculate Interior!
I love the individual instruments
It took a while but the engine bay is now very well presented
Original cargo blind, albeit in average condition. I may retrim this at some point in the future.
ORIGINAL TOYOTA MOTOR TOOLS AND TOOL BAG. I don't know why I am so proud of this.
And a bit of light reading
85hp, ZOMG!
Bad bits -
Rust in hatch
Funky spot in LHF guard
Rust around the screen
OH! Almost forgot. Original keys. Locks are in mint condition too.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

SERVICE TIME!
Before you lose your minds - I am using 15w-60 because a 15w-40 or 20w-50 is recommended for the vehicle, Penrite, which is my preferred oil for all my cars, does a 15w-50.
New penrite oil has this 'extra 10' added to the viscosity rating as it's more stable across a broader range of temperatures, hence 15w-60.
Valve clearance adjustment party. Clean as a bloody whistle under there. Cold adjustment because the battery is flat.
I've seen 2 year old cars with more varnish / sludge buildup than this. Clearly they've kept away from Castrolololololololol.
New guts for the distributor. Points, Condenser, Rotor button and Cap. New spark plugs too.
I really need some shorter leads for cylinders 1 and 4.
And now I leave it to charge and have an afternoon nap.
Started super quick after I charged the battery. Timing was bang-on.
Dwell was a little short at 46deg
Closest I could get it was 56deg. Spec is 54deg in the green bible, but 52deg on the cam cover. Variance up to 2000rpm is zero.
Now that it's warmed up I can do the oil and filter. Genuine oil filter, just for wank factor.
Fin!
I got the windscreen washers working again today also.
Now, does anyone have ANY idea why I have two ballast resistors wired up in series on my coil?! Just to make it (the coil) run cooler?
I might just get a nice Bosch GT40R and a new ballast resistor in a few weeks.

surprised by the quality of the engine........no rattles like the 1x i guess....
i really want to see the the 'other engine' in something tho
It's a tiiiiiiiiny bit ticky at the moment, the cold valve clearances probably weren't the most accurate, so I'll do a hot adjustment after the exhaust gets done tomorrow.
Myself and pop worked out that some of the timing marks on the crank pulley weren't actually timing marks and the timing was quite a bit advanced, but after we got the dwell spot on (52deg) and set the timing in spec the idle dropped to 650rpm (still a clean idle), carby idle mixtures were really lean so once that was sorted, smoooooooooth 900rpm idle.
