I'm glad you kept the roof racks, that and those 80's sunvisors and venetians are the ultimate drift accessory.

How long until the 1j goes in?

lol ultimate drift accessories indeed, I was cheerin I found a drivers side door weather shield...means I can have a dart in the rain...

1j should arrive this week so the majority of the swap can happen next weekend, engine and box go in from underneath so I will be doing it at a friends workshop with a hoist.

Hopefully to have it all ready for this...

Had to notch a little bit out of the front sump to clear the swaybar, mid/rear sump just wont work.

Probably lost about a litres capacity but an oil cooler later on will get that back.

Didn't get a chance to land the 1j in the bay this weekend, Tuesday night to use a mates hoist looks the go now.

Also will have another guy whose a gun on the tig to measure up for the pipe work, modding of some cooler end tanks and the exhaust.

Hope to throw a new timing belt and rear main on tomorrow, and perhaps even swap the 2j water pump on and get rid of the 1j hydraulic setup.

Trying to be ready for the 17th....

Been chipping away at it with the help of a fabricator friend.

I had a longer accel cable made up to reach the 1j front facing throttle body and a bracket was made up to suit.

Exhaust is done, had to plasma cut a flange as the 1j exhaust housing has a unique bolt pattern and there was nothing on hand.

Its 3" back to just before the diff where it meets up with the existing 2/12" mufflers and pipework.

Runs really nice and tight with the floor, hence the heat wrap, the gearbox x-member is now the lowest point of the undercarriage.

Currently the rad and cooler positioning is being thought out.

Also whilst changing the sparkler plugs out one of the coil plugs fell to bits, old and brittle, luckily enough the next day I was servicing a V6 2000 ish Camry and recognised the coil plugs as similar, checked the numbers and sure enough they are the same. From their it was an easy fix to find some plugs on a loose loom and get on it with the soldering iron.

Radiator is now all mounted, moved it forward to provide enough room for and engine side 12" thermo fan.

Undo three bolts along the top and two down below and it slides straight up and out.

Cooler has bottom brackets done and started on the piping, could have gone a slightly wider core but it was what was available at the time.

Also removed the throttle body to cut the 'traction control' butterfly from the end which will allow for a nicer radius on the piping.
