Default dangdangs 2jzge>1jzgte st141 Rona Wags

Bought this several weeks ago...I'm sure you can guess who from. Needing a bit of chassis and mechanical work to bring her back.

Couldn't help myself as I have always had a soft spot for the car, having worked on it and knowing its owner.

So far have straightened her back out on the chassis rack with straight panels, bumpers and missing trim from a matching colour st142 wagon.

Sourced another F series diff to replace the raped centre.

And have a xtreme button clutch to go in to again...replaced the raped jobbie currently struggling to hold any load atm.

Removed the half completed aircon, don't need that in TAS, and sorted the mismatched serpentine belt setup it had.

    ST141 Wagon

    Jza80 2jzge

    W58 box

Tarago F-series diff fitted with modified mounts and 4.1 ratio.

Has ma61 front struts with KYB inserts

    ma61 front brakes

    ra60 extended LCA's

    ra60 steering arms

Rear has adjustable panhard rod and kyb's

New urethane bushes all round and new balljoints, tie rod and rack ends all fitted this year.

2 1/2 exhaust, two mufflers and a hot dog and twin rear pipes, is not too loud but has a nice note.

ma61 fuel tank, new internal pump feeding a custom swirl tank with a bosch 044 pump

ma61 radiator and twin 10" thermos

ma61 bucket seats with pumpable internal bladders, Reebok style, farkin comfy farkers they are!

Car has completed and current paperwork for engineering in principle and I have now rego'd it.

Got myself a Tarago centre and CIG'd it up....only to discover it was the smaller E series from a yr20 or yr21.

So I went cross country in search of a diff, first two Torago's were YR21's

Third one was just a rough address I had for WAY out in the sticks, had to stop and ask for directions twice....

Found him though, YR22 F series, had to pull it out myself...80 bucks cheerin!

Originally only had doors from a sedan, so had to cut and shut the rear wagon frame onto the sedan door.

And swap the glass across as that is also different,

But then found out a friend had bought an st142 wagon for the mechanical, so I bought the shell, which made things easy.

Ok second try with the correct centre...

Swapped the flanges across to the one redrilled for the corona shaft...

    Big axles in these...I likey

Also found the front slinger that is usually attached to the tail shaft had come away and was swinging around on the shaft, so pissed that off...

Brakes needed two pumps when driving to get a good pedal...adjusted the rear shoes up...all fixed.

And took for a test run tonight....clutch is now totally fragged...was fun finishing it off though

Ok after an evening and a day of shakedown and getting used to the car I've come to a few conclusions.

Suspension is good, and will do for now but could do with an 86 weld on coilover kit later and a front sway bar at some stage.

The poor old shell flexes a bit in the bumps and under hard accel/decel, could do with front strut bar and rear cross brace.

The best would be half cage with tint to keep it looking sleeper.

The F series drums are a bit big for the weight of the car and tend to want to lock the rears when braking deep into a corner

a brake bias valve should sort this.

Drive shaft could do with a balance, isn't bad but I'm fussy.

Going to order some project Mu pads for the front.

    Needs a tacho.

And a hydro for upcoming practice day.
