Alternator question
So I'm finishing off my conversion (4ac-4age bigport) in my 86 but my battery isn't charging.
I wired the 4age alternator plug to the wires from the 4ac alternator plug, but have now read that I should actually wire it to the wires off the old external regulator plug, is that right?
I don't understand why wiring it to the old alternator plug doesn't work?
can someone clear this up for me? Cheers
the regulators on each version of 4age different and either internal or external.
so from my very vague memory the 4ac plug and shit wont work with a 4age (or GZE one for that matter) as they different and have differing outputs?

Thats correct. 4ac alternators have external voltage regulators (that black box to the right of your engine bay) and 4 age are internally reg'd. You have to rewire and eliminate that regulator. Not sure exactly how to but there should be a write up floating around.
