    Default Fuel pump failure

So I just got my car running and done about 300kms driving so far still on run in on Saturday arvo I had to go out I got less then a km away from my house and my car stopped dead checking for obvious things like spark etc I soon realised the fuel pump had stopped working now the pump is a brand new Bosch o44 I'm running it externally after thinking it was a dud pump I realised tonight that what I was worried about during the build had possibly lesd to this and the issue was I noticed early in the build that the filler neck was rusty becoming worries I asked around and apparently it's no big deal...

But while pulling my fittings off my pump tonight I noticed that after shaking the pump around that there was bits of gritty shit coming out of the pump and was noticeable in the thread that the fittings screwed into and also the fittings them selves...

Lets back track a bit here on Sunday I got a fuel pump off omg866 to get the car running after I got the 044 ou of the car I decided to hook some power to it and sit it in some fuel and see if it would work to my surprise it squirted fuel across my garage ..

So here's what I'm going to do

I'm going to get the clean unrusted looking tank from my white Ke shell further clean it and swap it
Over with the shit one from my yellow Ke
I'm then going to put a z200 fuel filter infront but inline with my 044 and I'm going to replace my existing z200 fuel fillter up ther front of the car with a new one

My question is can I try and clean the 044 out and put that back in if it seems to work fine or should I flush it out and try to get it replaced under warranty ...also all I run is the 044 should I run a surge tank or sumthing ?or a different intank pump ?

Do you have, or have you replaced the filter on the pickup in the tank? That should stop anything big enough to jam up a fuel pump.

ke dont have filter intank (mine didnt), if your really keen on getting it going good again, get your self some petrol (anything cheap but E10) and set the pump up sucking from a bucket (jerry can would be better) into another and see how much shit pumps out of it and "flush" it so to speak, but in saying that be carefull dont blow yourself up,

there are places that clean "restore" tanks if your that worried, run a good filter before the pump

personally i would run a surge tank NEVER had mine surge, even with lift pumping surging its tits off, were as once you get under 1/2-1/4 of a tnak it will start to surge when your into it
