Rob Huff moved to an all-time high in the Rankings despite losing out to Chevrolet team-mate Yvan Muller in the fight for the 2011 WTCC title. Huff had led the championship from the first round race the 16th, when he was finally overturned by Muller – the Frenchman holding a 20-point advantage heading into the season finale in Macau.

Huff however had the better record on the Macau Guia circuit, having won three times in the past three seasons – a streak he extended in the opening race of 2011 as he held off Muller for the win. That not only kept him in with a mathematical chance of stealing the title – he would have to win and have Muller finish fifth or lower – but also gave him a record number of wins on the Guia track.

Huff extended that yet further with a hard-earned victory in the second race, but it was not enough to resist Muller in the championship as the Frenchman finished third, enough to earn his third WTCC crown. For Huff, the disappointment was assuaged by his own belief that he could have done no more – a statement born out by the Rankings, where he rose to an all-time high of 40th on the back of his double win. Muller’s title triumph did not see him change from his ranking of 38th, just two spots – and less than 300 points – ahead of Huff.

With the third Chevrolet of Alain Menu already sure of third in the championship, Dutchman Tom Coronel took the honour of finishing as the top non-Chevrolet in fourth. He finished runner-up in the final race of the season to seal that berth, and also move up eight places to 138th in the Rankings. That was outdone however by Michael Nykjaer, who took a brace of fifth-place finishes to rocket 11 places to 193rd.
