I also rate the Penrite straight 140 weight. keeps it as quiet as possible in the heat up here and has always done a good job of lubricating while still locking up with minimal chatter.

The only thing that makes my trd 2 way chatter is coasting in a tall gear like 4th at sub 70klm/hr. To make it go away you apply 1 or 2 % throttle so there is a little torque to keep things in place.

Its really nice at low speed and makes a smooth transition from low to high throttle behaviour with a controllable change.

mine would chatter all the time in car parks even with fresh oil, then i put in the penrite limslip additive 7098 and after about a week of driving it quietened down and stopped chattering altogether.

i'd add the additive and do some slow reverse figure 8's in a car park somewhere to get the friction plates turning and covered in fresh oil.

Also a convert to Penrite straight 140 from Matt's experience. It is an excellent choice, my diff locks up early and is tighter with a lot less noise.

I thought Toyota oils were mostly Castrol sourced and therefore worth avoiding?
