Older models. Ah.... Touareg gp not current model and older caddys done a couple on older jettas also. it's not really a big issue, was just advising that white smoke is generally coolant. :-) VW is a great brand and they are high quality. Just your occasional lemon like all brands.

This thing about oil only burning blue is a complete myth.

My last 20v burning thru 4ltrs oil per 500kms never had blue smoke once, it was either dark grey or white.

Just keep driving brother, as i mentioned watch your fluid levels and 1 day i guess the problem will present itself.

9x outta 10 the oil being burnt is the valve stems / seals on the 20v. The last one i had an issue with had impressive leak down and compression results. It made real good power too, but just chewed through the oil.

Monitoring fluids is expected behaviour right?

In this case run the car up to temp a few times before worrying too much about it.

Update: smoke is gone now!! worrying is gone

so drove the car to get petrol, then wheel alignment done, then home just now
smoke is gone, and does mad skids

my thoughts: Bad fuel in fuel tank and moisture in tank and exhaust, checked fluid levels and nothing has changed since last time i poured all new oil and fluids

Thanks everyone, your 2cents has been appreciated
