Ive actually been enjoying it a surprising amount, I would be doing more today except I neatly got the rear seam done before I ran out of argoshield. Now I need to wait till boc opens to get more.

Still got to weld up the quarter panels, a few floor defects and the windscreen opening.

One awesome revelation, I was watching a youtube channel called restolad, who is a Kiwi guy that does car paint and restorations. He gave a great tip in one of his videos, and that was about finding some of the flexible grinder discs that behave like a tiny linisher, they don't just cut in, they remove plenty of material, but also are easy to control, you can really accurately flatten down welds with just the edge of the disc, or you can lightly skip the surface and essentially do a very minute linishing job to remove the last traces of rust paint or weld. I didn't use them for a while but they were amazing once I got them out and put them to use. 3m green corps, or similar. I got ten of some other brand for 20 bucks delivered from ebay.

    No more holes.

Plate inside the left a pillar.

    Outside view of said plate

    Its welded in.

Stitched and primed, and with reinforcing plates where the floor was weak as piss, and where the tank straps attach.

Made a custom sanding block for the rear seam.

Thanks mate. I got the argo shield and did the rear arches this arvo and also finished the rear floor off.

Still to address the windscreen opening, and the drivers floor which had some issues from a leaky clutch master that led to rust patches in the floor sheet.

Got some more black for another guide coat. half stripped the front gaurds, ready for a bit of prep.

Do today I made a plate to seal up the rusty area around the drivers floor, and another little one at the side where the rust also occurred.

Got into welding up the little imperfections I could see and after a while it was all solid.

Fixed some old screw holes and also some pinholes in the old welding that someone has done in the drivers floor, and then ground back some old resin and found more defects, and just did all the little 5 minute jobs.

All that remains is to grind her back and double check for pinholes, then to weld the screen opening, and the two small spots under the boot seal that had rust starting.

    Getting there.

    Before:

Got a random zenki trueno mudflap, Ill be using it until I can swap someone for a zenki levin type.

Couldn't imagine when in the future it might have been easier to fit the new hopefully quieter carter lift pump, and since I'm trying to give the car more manners I will happily give it a shot. Facet is removed and the carter is fitted on a hybrid bracket I made.

I filled the surge tank so I can just put it all back together and it will just start after a quick prime or two.

Got it all buttoned up, its a work of art I think. Its good my hands aren't too big. Put in a lot of fresh hose and all new hose clamps. There is about 6mm above the lift pump to the floor.

Fuel filter is easy to get to.

Line to fill the tank before connecting it back to the tank.

SO now the question is do I spend my money on new diff gears and a home paint job or lump it with 3.9s and get a professional paint job.
