Made a cap that meets adr requirements. Swamp garage came through with a bonnet, but I still need to find him one to replace it. I cut the roof out of the sa63 I had in the yard for a sheetmetal source. Worked out great! I will get it all signed off before I worry about painting it.

Made my TRD knob legal by cutting a std H pattern into it myself. The H I did with a hacksaw, then I did the alphanumerics by heating some metal stamping letter dies with MAP gas and then melting them in. I stretched some plastic over it for masking then soaked it with acrylic paint. I then buffed it down in a drill. It worked out fucking awesome! Made a nutsert based mounting system for the reverse cowl, which has already been dubbed the Pentagon of power.

So Ive got it off defect last Friday. Steven came through with a bonnet under some duress, and I was able to hand make a 'Pentagon of Power' as its been dubbed already. Basically a small reverse cowl to give me a legal bonnet design. Im super happy with how it turned out, especially considering its 100 percent hand made with me, a nibbler, the roof off the rusty sa63 in the yard, the welder, and hammer and dolly. Took 2 arvos to make and one more arvo to prep to the stage its at now. I need to buy more high build primer and body sealer to finish its painting and to refiish the bonnet as well.

Also redid the roll cage padding with black padding, and did a much neater job than before.

Took a drive up to Mt Mee to shake it down. Went well, aside from the shocking state of the road up from Dayboro and the traffic you end up following.

Thanks Bazz. I guess I needed a push to make it happen for the bonnet. I know the ae86 purists will be pleased. However the AE86 purists often havent come to term with the fact that in the Japanese car scene, anything goes!

All jokes aside, Im very happy with this now, and Im off to SCA to buy some body sealer to tidy up the bonnet a bit better.

Fuel pressure was low forsome reason. Raised it up. Its changed the performance so much. Tempted to go to the drags and see.

Been dropping in a different engine that I'm happier to thrash so I can modify this fresh motor. I've painted headers, under tray, coolant bypass hose and sump.

Switching all the rwd stuff over to the next motor. Sill gutta double check the bell housing fit and let all the painted parts dry up, then Ill be able to fit it all up and drop it in. Left tranny in the car, as its just so much easier to get engine in and out this way. All 5 bell housing bolts are easy to get a spanner or socket on, and the engine clears the rack by enough to slide forwards and disengage. Hardest bit is that you need to unbolt the engine mounts from the block to get it out without a fuss as you cant quite elevate the engine enough to unslot from the mounts..

I've heat wrapped the secondaries and Tertiary pipe in the headers. Will do secondary pipe after it gets further modified.

Added a few photos of the state of the motor that came out and the ports, and how amazingly even coloured and clean they are across all 4 cylinders.

Also a few photos to help anyone who would decide to do a rwd 2azfe.

New (old) motor is in and running beautifully. Also have fitted a 25 row thermostatic oil cooler. Shits tight.
