Stripped interior painting question

Hey hey,

I need some guidance for interior painting. My interior is completely stripped, all sound deadening removed and I would like a step by step for painting the interior.
I'm not going for show car quality just something that will last for a while as my ae is a drift piggy (the car will stay stripped).

Will it go something like this?
Wash interior with warm soapy water, wax and grease remover, sanding (what grit?), masking, primer, base coat, clear coat?

I'm probably going for satin black or grey interior, yes I realize it will be hot in summer lol

Any guidance would be appreciated, cheers!

Sounds about right. But you will want to wax and grease it all right before you paint it then wipe it all over with a dry clean rag.
Gotta have it spotless before you paint.

As for the gritt.. Probably only like maybe a 180 if it's pretty rough in there and then a 320? Won't need to get it super smooth if you're not gonna show car it lol

rofl...to be honest, you just need to rough up the surface a bit so dont worry too much about sanding it to perfection, just make sure the original paint does not look shinny anymore (glossy), should look like a matt-paint colour and 2pac paint will be fine, again its more important to wax and grease remove and make sure its dry and clean from dust etc etc

i used a wire wheel on a drill and went back to metal, blow out with air gun, prepsol down then 2k prime and then 2k gloss black after primer flashed off so wet on wet style ap.

Ok Sweet,
its purely a DIY project i dont have access to an air compressor and spray gun so im going for spray paint. is it worth throwing a light coat of primer on?

no point in primer, just go with paint, just try to keep the paint all wet in the same depth so it will all dry roughly the same time for better results

do you mean your using spray can paint?

just brush that shit with hammer-coat man, its quick easy and nice and tough, covers imperfections, and sticks well, don't even need to rough the surface up, just wax n grease it and go hard.. unless, you want something more professional looking, its sounds like you don't though so that's an option.

I used this hard curing paint that I had left over from some bass speaker bins. Water based and you can make it as thick or thin as you want and it dries and cures as one piece. It is heavy so I only used a thin layer and it seems to have worked well.



P.s. I used a sea sponge to put it on!

i used K&H underbody sealant / sound deadener... and put it on with a brush. it's like a rubber like coating and it covers all the imperfections and sticks to anything
