    Default CBY flares and wheels to suit ??

    Just thought I would ask to see if anyone has any info that might be useful to me.

    I have just bought a set of Genuine CBY flares for an 86 that I am building. I am also looking at buying wheels to suit. Which leaves me the task of buying the correct size and offset wheels to suit the guards.....
    Has anyone else fitted CBY flares? What wheels sizes are a good match for the flares? I want to find the best match, without having to use spacers( but will if have to). In saying that, I dont want to have them too wide for the guards either....

    I am thinking either 15x9, 15x9.5, or 15x10. Thinking 15x9.5 -25 ???? O-Disk

    These are the sizes availiable:

    Cheers

    Yeah I herd it'll be like x9-25 or x10-25.. So your looking at the right sizes lol

    Just troll for ae86 pictures on google or other known ae86 forums with the same flares and sometimes they list the spec of the wheels. I think it would be similar specs to what n2 cars are running.. Though some use spacers for n2 kit as well

    I think a 15x10 -25 will sit pretty nicely.

    How much wider are the CBY flares?

    I was running roughly a 15x10 -25 under origin flares, I think they are a +30mm flare. The rim was just inline with the flare, plenty of clearance.

    hahaha, same dilema i'm going through. I have 14 x 8.5 -22's with spacers on front to clear brakes.... so depends on your brakes for the front. a 15 x 9 -25 without a spacer is too small, need more dish, but that size with a spacer would be perfect.

    OK, had dinner now...lol.
    The rear's are crazy big, a 10 inch -40 up to -60 fills them without a spacer, you can go 12 inch with less neg too. I have the same as my front's now (14 x 8.5 -22) on the back with a spacer of 30mm, and they are still not enough, and to be honest it gets a little strange looking having the wheels that skinny sit so far out. IMO you still need to fill the wheel tubs too, to make them look any good, so a 9 is not big enough, it has to be 10 inch minimum.

    just some quick info from , use these as a rough guide i guess

    1 full set of 4 Work Meister Rims from CBY Japan, these are custom make for the CBY Car

    Front:
    15x9.5 -19 Off set

    rear
    15x10 -38 Off Set

    ================================================== =============

    According to CBY their Current wheel spec is

    F: 16 X 9 0 Offset

    R: 16 X9 -42 offset

    it's not the one for the picture. it's their current N2 Spec with the 5.5 AG set up that they won with the last 2 N2 events
    ================================================== ===========================

    Watanabe R-Type 15x9.5 -19 and 15x10 -25 on the N2 Trueno

    And from AEU86.org (not sure if accurate)
    Wheels:
    Panasport C8R
    Front: 16x9.0 -6 offset
    Rear: 16x9.0 -43 offset
    Tire: 225/45R16 all around
    Front Lower Arm extended 35mm
    ================================================== ===============

    from but regarding to CBY 40mm fender flares

    Front: 15X9 with somewhere between -15 to -20 offset. Rear: 15X10 with -30 to -40 offset.

    ================================================== ===============
    from

    Here's the basic specs on the CBY fender flares and what wheel size/offsets they are using on their demo Levin.

    Flares:
    Front: 50mm / 1.97 inches
    Rear: 65mm / 2.56 inches

    Wheels:
    Panasport C8R
    Front: 16x9.0" -6 offset
    Rear: 16x9.0" -43 offset
    Tire: 225/45-16 all around

    Front Lower Arm extended 35mm
    ================================================== =============

    this is my corolla.. with full CBY..
    i'm using 16x9.5 0 offset front and 16x9.5-38 rear..
    its a pain really.. if you dont have the lower control arms..
    cant really extend it much without using spacers.. cause the front
    is still short by about 20mm.. but since i have the adjustable control arms..
    i'm safe.. just getting your car to look like this..
    your really compromising comfort..

    Thats a decent amount of info you found Richard

    Id go for the 15x10 -28 (A disk) and then use spacers if you have to.

    The problem with going bigger than a 10" wide would be finding tires to suit. It depends how wide you want, as a 215 will already have a decent stretch on a 10.
