Pulling down a 7afe engine - Removing crank bearing caps

Hi All,

Just in the middle of pulling down my 7afe block and i've called it a day, but couldn't get the crank bearing caps in the middle out. These are the ones which have the thrust washers either side...



What is the secret to getting these out? The other caps came out easily, but these ones won't wiggle enough to get them off.

hey matt, use an aluminum or brass drift with a hammer and tap it left to right, foward and aft. it will come loose

Just literally drop two main bolts in (dont thread them), and then hit them one by one with a hammer (from the side). Works everytime

As toxin said. It actually says this in the Toyota repair manual.

I'll do it tonight, I got all the others out with my hands, just the ones with the washers either side got stuck.

and i found using a clean(no molested) pry bar, worked well if you have studs instead of bolts

Took all of 30 seconds last night to get them out... Bolt in the cap, taped with a hammer and out they came.
