Depends how they are made a fiberglass panel made to adr standards in most cases is the same weight as a std one which aren't heavy anyway, or are you just coming from the rust side of it?
Hey all, I am considering making fiberglass bonnets as stated in the tittle, these bonnets would be gel coated and primed, ready for you too paint, I am his curious as to whether or not people would be interested in buying these if I was to make them.
Cheers

"Not all commodore drivers are wankers, but all wankers drive commodores"
Depends on the price mostly and what supports are added in. Happy for you to gather interest and run a once off group buy.
Mostly coming from rust side, not really thinking of weight gains, as for price I am still working out the cost of materials etc, will be trying to do it as cheap as possible just trying to see whether there is enough interest to bother doing it
Id like one if they werent too expensive because i dont have a bonnet :'(
Ohhhh I won't be gettin these ADR approved, too much hassle, so it would be a case of run at own risk
Im sorry, but I cant read any more on the internet about ADR approved bonnets.
THERE IS NO ADR WHICH COVERS THE FITMENT OF AFTERMARKET FRP PANELS, If you can find anything, I will personally get them approved for you.
Just like the bullshit about airbag compliant bullbars, its a load of crap.
Fair enough. Just saw S13 ones for sale that where adr approved (apparently) and they weighed more than a std bonnet.

Yeah, but you can definately have completely legal FRP panels, that company looks to be pretty legit with their legal bonnets though.
Its just annoying because the words "ADR approved" get thrown around so much. If it doesnt say which ADR it complies to, then the label means nothing.
honestly don't bother its cheaper and easier to find a decent condition metal bonnet. After you find a mint bonnet to make the mold off, make the mold, make a mold for the ribbing / supports, mounting points for the hinges and the bonnet latch or use bonnet pins then materials and labor its not worth it.It wont be cheap and if there's no weight savings what's the point? A few people have made fiberglass flat front bonnets tho
