Hey folks, been hunting around online to find a plan for building a car trailer. I kind of know what I want in a trailer and it seems a bit of a waste of cash buying a plan which will only end up being used as a guideline. I want to build something which tilts for easier loading and it has to be braked.

Has anyone got any good links to a free trailer plan that they've looked off while building?

i dont knwo about in VIC(so yes this post may be pointless but wil be good for other readers) in NSW getting a home made trailer complianced and blueslipped can be a pain in the ass, especially new trailers, if it is pre 1984 its easy(if trailer has no identifiers and looks old you say its 1984), if its new you will need to provide receipts, for metal supplies, axles hubs etcetc, weight bridge ticket, and take that all to the person doing the inspection as they will send a form to the RTA(RMS) for a Vin #

be careful getting old trailers and putting new drawbars on them, as RTA(RMS) has turned around before with the "why did they replace it" "that could of had the old numbers and been stolen" and refused to suply a VIN#, until the customer rang the rta EVERYday having a go at them, until we got a random fax with a VIN# for it

    recomend having brakes, twin axle

Thanks for moving, I was undecided if this should have gone tech or not as it's not a vehicle question.

However I build it, it will definitely be braked. Im still undecided on going load share dual axle or just single axle. Its going to be purpose built for an 850kg track car and needs to be as lightweight as possible because I will be towing it with an 05 Subaru Liberty 3.0RB. Dual axle will probably be better even though it adds weight it will kind of help what goes on with the rear of the car while towing...

Something like this on a small scale would be ideal.

Have a chat with Jez (Rallystanza), he's built one. Tipping, dual axle. No idea what, if anything, he based the design on.

Cheers, yeah I saw it when I bought parts off him. I'm doing something similar but load sharing springs with electric brakes and I'm leaning away from tilt now, beaver tail and long ramps instead. Drawing it up on cad later this week
