my ae71 with stock bigport + carbs seems to be doing similar times (quarter mile)to ae71 + stock 20v.si i reckon all are good, its just the factory induction on the 20v's making them awesome

lol!!! just the factory induction.......far from it, what about the heavily angled intake tract, the narrow angle between the valves giving a flatter combustion chamber, the increased valve area.

Rhys, what's fnny about this particular car, was the tuner had not utilised the vvt so it was just 'off' all the time, so it idled nice and had good top end but was shallow in the md range, we turned the vvt on and well you can see the difference to mid range! The first thing the guy said after the driving it was how well the mid range felt!

Thanks Jamie, this is hard proof of the nice linear power curve of a 20V, peaky my arse. You wouldn't have a dyno run with a stock ecu would you?

Sam, it's a little crappy down low due to the fact that the quads were in free air and it had a set of 4-1's, I have always found the quads in an airbox to boost bottom end. Yeah I have to laugh at the peaky thing as well, 20v's whether ST or BT always have a nice fat mid range torque bump! I do have a few runs on my own car(AE111) with the stock ecu and I think I have some ST with stock ecu, most I see have aftermarket. But what is funny is, this particular car ended up making 103rwkw(Mtec M4, 4-1's), my daily AE111 with I.Mec rams made 100rwkw! I have some HKS racing headers that I'm going to do a back to back on my daily so it will be interesting to see if they improve or ruin the torque curve.

this may be a dumb question but what makes more torque? 16v or 20v? from both standard and to both modified respectively the same level

Rhys my car is early 5 speed model BZ-G super strut, so it has the helical LSD, bigger brakes, quicker steering, biger anti-roll bars and ABS.

Richard, I find that a 20v always puts out more torque, they have a really nice mid range bump, even compared to a VTiR B16 Vtec they have more torque, infact the 20v(even ST) kills a B16 for torque.
