    Default ecu fault codes

    car: ae86
engine: late model 7 rib bigport
    ecu: suits above- ae92

    fault codes thrown : 5 and 9

i've checked the ecu diag manual and there is nothing for "5" and "9" is for the speed sensor which is not hooked up, next week i'll run a wire from the dash cluster to the ecu for the speed sensor but what does the speed sensor actually do? as im driving my CEL with randomly come on and off, other people have said when the speed sonsor is not hooked up the light will come on but not go away untill the car has been turned off.
does it adjust fuel for coasting speeds?
also has anybody else had a "5" thrown up before? nothing in the book to tell me what 5 would be for.

I've heard code 5 is the o2 sensor but i've never confirmed it myself.

The tps adjusts the fuel not so much the speed sensor, other than the annoying light i've never noticed a difference by having it connected or not.. Rumours are the timing advance is retarded without it connected.

Yeah supposedly without speed sensor connected the computer runs an idle.map.or something.

I've never noticed much of a difference with it connected or not. But the light being annoying is enough of a reason to connect it
