Default help Identifying what motor I have

Hi guys, I just need help identifying what 4ag I have. I was told that it was a 4agze but the charger was removed to to p plater laws .

From what I know it's a 7 rib block with the oil squirters, ae92 100kw ecu/ wiring , no tvis, oil return to sump, supercharger rocket covers and is sluggish under 5000rpm but hauls butt from 5000 - 7000rpm

I'm sure it's not a ze but was wondering if there is anyway on telling what it really is ?

I guess it depends on what pistons are inside. A normal smallport will have high top pistons for more compression and the ZE will be dished.

edit: What car is it in and what intake manifold does it have? If the oilk breather is connected to the head then you have a smallport block and head.

The Manifold has been cut and welded and the oil breather runs from the rocket cover to the manifold .

Comp test it gze should be slightly lower than a smallport. Also grab the part number off the ecu but it could have been swapped also

Well if its NOT a ZE motor, the 100kw 4age should pull from 3000 to redline without any dramas..if your saying its sluggish until 5000 then most likely is a ZE..

i know this isnt the BEST way to tell, but it should give you a rough idea what the engine is, no bigport or small port GE will feel sluggish up to 5000.. they all should pick up power at 3000-3500 already.

Looking at the sticker on the ecu is a smart move, if you want no doubt about what you have then one of those camera things on a flexable shaft- endascope? to see if the pistons have a dish in them.

Also pictures go a long way

    Like I said it has a ae92 100kw ecu 100kw 4 wire dizzy.

The guy I got it from did say it was a hybrid engine with parts used from other 4age's

I was just hoping maybe the engine number or something could identify the the bottom end was.

Thanks for all your help guys

That's a good idea I'll chase that up with the rta and see how I go.

The engine number won't really tell you what it is as gzes are still 4axxxxxx etc.

Sounds like a bitser motor, easiest way is to use a borescope ie. camera down the spark plugs to inspect the pistons. The compression test results will also give half a clue, but won't be conclusive.

If you are out my way i've got a compression tester you can throw on it.
