hahahah dave, pretty likely, but there is a large number of middle aged women that own these (well in my area) so I imagine there will be grandma spec cars in 20/30 years still. Which brings a twinkle to my eye.

I don't get how they aren't a "proper" engine? Subaru engines are fantastic, if an EJ20 fit between the rails of an AE86 I would run one over a Beams for sure.

i had dreams of a proper toyota inline engine

i thought a lightly souped aurion v6 would actually suit it well - but then its like a 350z (not exactly a bad thing) but not like an 86

i guess the FA does everything it needs to for the right price - BUT - its not what in my mind....in a 'perfect' 86

and a grunty 2.0l isnt enough these days and people dont like to rev their engines

    bit sad really

You know I am probably wrong --- but I am old and fat and can still remember when a 3K with twin webbers was considered a preformance engine ( shit I must be old ?). But every time I have driven a FT86 ---- Well its NICE ? but just not quite there ! Bit like 1JZ Soarer auto V a 1JZ Soarer R154 manual . SAME --- SAME but NOT the same at all . Just put it down to a generation gap.

The 86 is a model like corolla and Camry that will continue on. They say the next 86 will be developed on the same platform but with a inline 4. That will be the car to buy and keep.

The existing 86's are still plenty fast enough for allot of p-platers to write off.. I'm waiting for the wreckers after a shell has been picked clean to give me a call.
