    Default motor dieing on bumps

    car-ae86
    motor-4age bigport with rwd manifold
problem-whilst driving tonight my 86 started to drop in revs for a breif second when ever i went over a bump on the road,at a latter stage when on a bad
section of road it made the motor stall, headlights, music etc was still on,started fine off i went, this then happened once more before i made it home.I checked that various plugs and spark plug leads were on properly, battery terminals are tight, when driving on a smooth road it hauls ass like before, just bumps gives it issues,no warning lights or anything came on on the dash so alternator should be fine?so got me thinking a loose or worn out plug, sensor,
or earth, could someone point me to which ones could possibly cause this bullshit, stingin to drivveeee (colour and location etc would be awesome)

Most common is the wiring around the dizzy plug... always wears / breaks around that.

Does it start / drive now?

Yeah that is the one, just unplug it and inspect the condition of the wiring on both the dizzy itself and the loom... Normally on the loom the black wire is frayed / busted.

So it is 100% reproducable each time the engine cutting out when you hit a bump??? Wriggle the connector on the firewall and also the one around the coil as well whilst it is running, it should cut out too.

It shouldn't be hard to find / resolve... see how you go and if you get stuck I drive past your way a fair bit so it shouldn't be much to drop in and spend a couple of minutes looking over it.

Check the block connectors at the injectors sometimes they become brittle and crack causing a loose connection.

Alternator not spinning is a bad thing.... measure your battery voltage and it should be 14v or there abouts, if it isn't a half hour drive or so will kill your battery. Also check that your batt terminals are clean and nice and tight cos hitting a bump and it cutting out the alternator should have enough to keep the car running if the earths are all in check.
