    Hey guys
I'm starting to bang my head against the wall about wiring up a "vehicle speed sensor" for my 20v, its not connected - only revs to 7200rpm instead the claimed 8200

i've looked through so many threads trying to find out what i need...i've connected from the reed switch in the back of the cluster to the ecu but no luck - still 7200
i've tryed wiring a flasher unit in just to see if this would help nothing..and finding a wiring diagram to suit is proving difficult. i have a 26pin 16pin and 12 pin.

I'm not even sure what kind of reference the ecu wants to see? the reed switch was putting out a frequency but still didn't work, unless i have the wiring in the wrong pin?
i also boughtt a 555 timer circuit with a 'astable operation' but it got broken whilst at work ...but we aren't going to go there, so i didn't get to try it out.

    thanks tristan

Wire up your check engine light and run off the codes... If there is another issue, it will also not rev out, not always the check engine light.

Is this the diagram you are after?

Thanks brad! did not see your latest comment until now.

Matt, this is the wiring diagram i went off today...

i hooked up a flasher unit to give the ecu a dc wave the pin labelled SPD and when i got to about 4000 rpm it back fired...and had a noticeable different rev up tone though when it was connected up.

i will try to figure out how to connect the engine check light up... i got about 7 days until i want it registered and i thought i had this issue sorted out :/

Check engine light is easy... ignition power to one side of a globe, and the W pin off the ecu is the earth. Any 12v globe is good but the one in the dash is best.

Roger for no engine check light, i got a park light bulb and no check light on....silly me spent ages trying to figure out which wire is for the engine check light for the cluster but it doesn't have one lol.

i was wondering can i bridge out some wires to figure out if any codes are stored? or does this model ecu have a diagnostic plug>?

Hey all, after some more research into my "vehicle speed sensor" problem
i would like too ask two things

Has anyone just connected the 4 pulse / rev output from the back of the tacho to a standard 20v ecu and it clear the whole rev limit problem?? my doesn't seem tooo ( i've also taken for a drive to get some pulsing coming from cluster so the ecu doesn't think i'm free reving)

2ndly i am reading about Apexi RSM which looks like it could fool my Ecu to help with rev limit and speed cut?

Could any one please varify these and there experiences with the vehicle speed sensor issue?
