    Default Vic roads?

Hi y'all ive got a question in regards to registering my corolla I'm for Melbourne and ive nearly got all the bits together to do the 4age swap in my ke70 and it going to be my daily drive, now the car is currently un rego'd and has the 4kc motor in it! Would I be able to swap over the motors then get a roadworthy cert for it and then get it rego'd or do I have to get an engineers cert to do this? I've been told by a few people that I don't need a engineers cert because I'm not modifying the car to the extreme I'm simply swapping over motors from the same family and correct me if I'm wrong the ae71 had a 4age in them from factory so I'm assuming that haveing the 4age is just another option like A/C! Or power windows!

Nup, ae71's came out with the 4ac.

Anyways Best bet is to talk to vicroads or your mechanic for clarification.

Well I just called vic roads and explained my situation and what I wanted to do and they said that I wouldn't need to get an engineers cert! I said that I'd be increasing the size of the motor from a 1.3 to a 1.6 and they said as long as there's no modification to the chassis then it doesn't require an engineers cert I just have to tell them
That I'm swapping over the motors at the point of inspection for when I go to get the car rego'd and show them the roadworthy cert and all the receipts for the engine and car and it should be fine any thoughts on this?

If the 4k is running just get it registered with that first. After registration call up and change engine numbers. Did you state to them that you were converting from Carb to EFI? Technically you do need an engineers cert but people have gotten away with it for years. Keep the conversion clean and you shouldn't have a problem

Really depends on the person behind the desk, if they are in the know or just a job person.
