So, Noosa was the last event for this year. Here is a clip.

Now the fun of fitting the heavier doors, std seat belts, a passenger seat and removing the roll cage all in the interest of safety and rego.
It's last race has been run and won, I wonder how it will be on the street?

Next Saturday is a sponsors ride day at QR. I will be there to take a few people for some laps to say thanks for the help this year. I might have some space at the end of the day for others. PM me for more details.

    It has been some time...

I couldn't sell the old girl for a price close to its value. R33 project is gone so I could keep the Levin. The rally car is still just sitting. Got married. Clipped a hay bail at leyburn Historic street sprint and had a baby. The poor old girl has sat quietly for the last 18 months or so and is now getting some attention.

Chip off the old block. She loves the cars!

    Leybyrn pain, kinks and repairs

New front coil over inserts went in. TRD blue short stroke shocks. It was surprising how shagged the old ones were. Probably contributed to the hay bail pain.

    Old and new shocks

This year I have entered the SCMSA. QLD-NSW sprint series. Round 1 was at Morgan Park layout B. I was a bit rusty and only ran on the Saturday. I had to run in the under 2L sport sedan class because on the frp bonnet and the rear wheels are to wide for ipra late regs...

Nagkang AR1 semi slicks are AWESOME by the way. I won the class but the engine temps were getting very hot, hence only running on Sat. 128°c was the worst I saw. Like me, the water in the engine was very rusty too. Talking to my local rad guy, coolant degrades over time. Replace it yearly people. The motor is out, I wanted to do an exploratory pull down as there was a little bit of troubling material in the oil filter.

The mains were perfect. The big ends were not. The rods were reused in the last build. The pistions were only a hyperutectic type and have reached their service life. The fly is a lightened std wheel, it worries me and its not that light. Round 2 is in 2 weeks. Pressure is on.

More on the engine rebuild soon... days not years, l promise. 13.something : 1 comp is part of the goal. Old engine was around 10.5:1.

In the vid you can see me checking the temp with a telling shake of the head. The bmw is a modified twin turbo 6 clinder thing. Diferent class.

Finally some progress. The new flywheel is almost complete. Ring gear to come.

The new dash is taking shape too.

Test fitting the dash... easy! Nothing fouls. Very happy so far.
