Default Complete noob question, how much would it all cost to do up an 86?

I'm considering on buying an 86.
let's just say its in great condition, but lets assume if it is not.
How much would a new blacktop conversion, suspension, gear box, ecu all that cost?
Just want to know how much i would be looking at if i want to invest in one, and helps out my budgeting.

    Thanks people!

Any of those things can be done cheaply and poorly, generally speaking the more money you invest the better the end result will be. It's impossible to put an exact dollar figure on any of those things. Are you doing any work yourself?

if your not doing any of the work yourself i'd budget 20-30k for all your hot up bits plus whatever you pay for your ae86, you'd be better off spending 15k and buying somebodys built up ae86.
good thing about them is they are easy to work on and if your patient you can find bargains, so it could end up being much less then this.

i bought my 86 for 6k i have spent around 3k on it, it has a 4age20v silvertop i still need a aftermarket ecu and new rims/tyres...86's don't come cheaply sadly
but you do save soo much if you do all the work yourself..

    2k for an engine package
1.5k for conversion bits or 3k if you go aftermarket ecu.
1-2k for suspension depending how far you want to go

The stock t50 will last if you treat it nice.

Labour - Shop around but not unreasonable to expect 2k or more to do this conversion.

If you cut both ends off the string ....it is endless... Same story for doing up an 86 it will continually drain your bank account til you get rid of it

Disagree, to build one to your specification properly I say realistically 10k on top of purchase price..I don't think your after a N2 or D1 spec ae86 right? So the same money as a s15, then when you put it like that you'll have a new ae86 that will perform better then a stock s15. And that is still cheap money to be honest.

Who say you need the best suspension setup in the world? Or the best NA 4age?

You will save a lot of money doing it right the first time and also not constantly changing your mind or dicking about with the build. Plan it so you don't have fix or upgrade the same thing twice..
