MY 'FINKE DESERT RACE 2009' TRIP...heaps of pics, 4ages too!!! buggies, bikes, trucks
Over the queens bday long weekend, i made the treak to Alice springs to see the Finke desert race.
If you havent heard of this race before.....well....you are missing out. Its the biggest off road race in the southern hemisphere!
The race goes from alice springs down to the finke community, which is 226kms south of alice. The competitors race to finke on the sunday, camp there and then race back to alice on the monday, in all, the cover 450km of the harshest terrain out there.
Here are a select bunch of photos i thought you guys might be interested in.....check out the engineering that goes into some of these vehicles.

check the last vid, the ENTIRE track, bar a 17km streach is like that.....if not worse.
imagine racing at an average speed OVER 100km/h for 230k's like that....
shit is intense!
