    Default removing front rotors

I've just taken off the caliper but have no idea how to remove the rotor. there appears to be a strange, large metal cap over where the centre bolt should be. Do I need to remove it? If so how?

flat head screwdriver and do it like a tin lid

then remove the split pin, undo the greasy bolt and your entire hub will come off.

then take off the 4 bolts mounting the disc to the rear of the hub.
dont loose the locking cap and the washer that sits between that "strange metal cap" and the outer bearing.

it is VERY important that when you refit the hub back onto the stub axle, you tighten the nut correctly.

this doesnt mean doing it up tight as possible, as that will fuck shit up in a big way.

you need to do it up enough to remove the freeplay in the bearings, but not too tight as to crush them in the hub.

one way to do it is, do the nut up finger tight and then give it a 1/3 to 1/2 more turn with a shifter...back it off...then repeat. just remember, dont overtighten this nut!!!

    thanks for the replies.

still can't get it off though. I can't get a flathead in anywhere there is no gap. Or do I have to force it in with a mallet?

Would someone post up a DIY with pics would be great or a link would be great as well. I'm looking at replacing my front rotors soon.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers
