Default ke70 snapped axle removal help!

    Car - ke70

motor / part in question - diff axle

problem - finding it hard to remove snapped off piece

    hey guys

Was having too much fun the other night and an axle let go. Is there anyway of taking the broken off axle piece out, without taking the diff centre out? and if you have to remove the diff centre to get it out, is there any special procedure when putting centre back in? ie seating the gears with the right amount of back lash or something like that?

Any help is much appreciated as am trying to get the car back and running for an event this saturday.

    cheers

    Ryan

you'll have hard time trying to get it out without the centre out.

diff will go back in the same way.

^^ Was going to say the same thing. There my be some metal fragments in there, so you want to get any shit out....

Are you asking about removing the complete centre from the main diff housing? Or on how to remove the LSD centre from the snout housing?

Which diff is it? Borgwonka or Toyota T series? The toyota diffs are easy and simple. The Borgwonkas can be a bit more complicated and a pain in the ass....

Tent pole or broom handle with a decent magnet attached works a treat.

dont pull the centre out, its a #### to get back in with the preload washers and shit with out using a big housing spreader, get yours self a peice of flat bar and bend the #### and smack it with a hammer

i was going to take the diff centre out but as lolwut said, getting it back in with the shims will be a bitch. will just take it to a diff shop and get them to take it and the spider gear pin out as well. so next time i can just bash a pole through the other side to get the piece out. its a borg warner not a t series.

havent managed to get the piece out of the centre yet and its stuck in there pretty good, don't think any normal magnet will get it out.

dw i wont be attempting it myself, will take it to a diff place.

Lol at this, I helped a guy that lives up the street last week to get a piece of spline out of the borgy in his VL. He tried using tent poles and got that jammed in there making it even more difficult to remove. I used a bit of 12mm bar and trimmed the end to get past the pin in the middle of the diff centre.

Lolol! Look personally I've never done it, but heard from a few different people it works. Guess it depends how it snaps?

The VL was his main problem :p
