DIY Rust removal/Fibreglass repairs and roadworthiness

I have the typical rust on my new AE86, wheel arches, around where the rear quarter meets the door, etc.

I am doing the repairs myself and using a polyester-based fibreglass resin and woven fibreglass fabric (as opposed to matting).
I want to get this baby roadworthy and I have a couple of questions:
Provided I do a solid job, will I run into any problems getting a roadworthy?
It sounds to me like this really depends on the mechanic and their interpretation of the rules. The roadworthy requirements on the vicroads website () seems a very vague (what counts as "structural"? What constitutes a "faulty" body repair?).

I'm thinking of maybe taking a bunch of progressive photos of my rust removal work if there are questions, since the mechanic cant see the rust removal (or lack thereof) under the fibreglass and can't be sure that I havent just bogged and primered over the rust.

I'm really keen to get to work on this, but I don't want to spend all my time restoring a car just to never see it registered.

My question is this area is covered by carpet and the rear 1/4 interior trim. If you spray that underside how will they know

Any repair work that the mechanic can easily tell there's been a repair that's not 100% can be called a faulty repair. If you can do the work to a standard that the guy doing the rwc won't notice it's been repaired, then you'll be fine. If you can tell it's a backyard job most testers won't pass it, I know I failed plenty of cars for this reason.

NSW your not allowed to lift any carpet etcetc, we have had to pass cars before with a hungry jacks tray silastic to the floor, painted black(underneath), with the carpet over the top (inside)

hah sounds like my first mini i got rego'd, but mine had old rego plates riveted to the floor with a bit of filler over the top and finished off with body deadener.
so long as where the rust is is not structural and you cover ups are half decent i'll think your going to be ok, but if you have the time/inclination do it right the first time around and you wont have to repair it again for ages
