Depending on if the electrolyte has eaten into the circuit board it may be repairable.

If you are willing to send it to me, I can repair it for a fee.

I can't guarantee it'll fix all your issues, but it definitely needs to be sorted.

    PM me if you're interested.

pretty much! you have the following options
    1. repair the ecu
    2. replace ecu with 2nd hand silvertop (which is prone to the same thing happening again or replace all capacitors before it happens)
    3. buy an aftermarket ecu
i actually ended up buying a microtech ecu - lt10 s with the x4 module which i have almost wired in..
i sent the old ecu away for repairs and by the time it would have been fixed with postage it was around 600 due to the circuit damage.

post a pic up of the damage done!

    hi

ya i have my ecu out now with covers off it and it has some damage alright. i will put pics up in a bit just after dinner or that so you can see for yourself.

had your damage progressed through to the back of the board?

    Yeah definitely leakage.

Basically on some Toyota ECU's they cheaped out and used poor quality capacitors, so they have a shortened service life and end up like this.

Yup, really don't know why toyota did that maybe spent to much on yamaha making the 20v head design :p but still 20 years is still fair wack for a ecu i have commodores dying everyday over ecu's!
