    100th Post!

For those who are skeptical about using the dry ice method for removing the factory sound deadener... I gave it a go today and it works... really well.

I made a little video of me doing it, but it kinda sucks given that I am using one hand to hold the camera.

Anyway, I have put a link to it below, enjoy:

In other news I have now secured an SR20 bellhousing, the clutch has been ordered and I have some facotry SR engine mounts ready to be modified.

As soon as some other steering bits turn up I will be in business!

    Yeah, BOC in Fyshwick.

The guy there was pretty good. I only bought the minimum amount, but then he got busy at the desk so it took around 10 minutes for him to be able to come out to give me the dry ice. So he was quite heavy handed and that helped a bunch.

Did you see my car around or something Bob?

Hey guys, bit more stuff going on...

So I FINALLY organised to get my hands on an rb20det gearbox and an sr20det bellhousing. So, then what right? For those who haven't seen an rb or sr gearbox the division between the bell and the rest of the box is somewhere around the mid way point

So after a quick bit of reading on the net we discovered that the key to success is to keep the box vertical while you conduct the change. We started there, but once we had figured out why they suggested to keep it vertical we took a bit of license whilst we were messing around.

Anyway, shiny bellhousing interior (yes, thats the reverse sensor, fill point and drain plug... all in the bellhousing... No W58's round here...)

    Here is the 'naked' gearbox:

Anyway, so that's been plugged back together and is just awaiting a genuine gasket for one of the more intricate bits.

In the meantime the Z has been sold and paid for, this allowed me to have the clutch ordered (xtreme 6 puck with 1300kg pressure plate)

I also sourced some stock sr20 engine brackets/mounts, then borrowed JoJo's mounts, and the two sets are sitting in a fabricator's having my pair modified to be duplicates.

There are a couple of other things going on in the background too, but for the moment I will leave it there for the updates.

On a different note, I know there are some lurkers out there watching the build. Have any of you got some pictures of a black levin with mesh? possibly even different colours of mesh?

Get involved and chuck them up!

No but that gearbox came out after being installed then the engine came out and got rebuilt because the rear main seal was leaking. So I upgraded the turbo while it was out too and redid a bunch of stuff to make it neater and tidyer which brings us to now. Starting car this weekend.

Why is it that you are even in possession of that photo? Is it in the silvia thread?
