hi,
last weekend i ripped out my old 4age and put in a JDM long motor ( sump to cam covers ) and now i am having major dramas
i swapped all the ancilleries over from the old motor...manifolds, infector setup, anternator etc etc
when its in neutral it idles ( idle hunting aswell ) and appears to rev up fine, but when your driving along it feels like crap, mis-firing and massively no power
and the exhaust side cam cover heats up to pretty damn hot, hot enough that you dont want to touch it.
cold start works fine
any ideas?

You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?
its not something silly like a blocked exhaust?
nothing like a rag fell in the exhaust when you had the engine out?
checked the plugs when i put them in, they were fine
and the timing was set between 5-20...but hard to set while its hunting
exhaust is all clear
No vac leaks?
Distributor / Rotor button g/c?

i know there is a slight vac leak which is causing the idle hunting, but its not big enough to cause this sort of drama
lead, cap, button all in good condition
i have a feeling that it might be a fucked injector
did you figure out what ECU it had?

pretty sure its a jap ecu, although i really have no idea, the sticker is almost unreadable
1 - Check ECU for codes.
2 - Extra hot exhaust can be caused by cam timing. Check cam timing, and also ignition timing for good measure while you're at it.
