School me in C&PW setup, Plz

Hey guys,

Im getting a 4.778 c&pw and TRD solid spacer for my T series that is currently running a gay 3.9.

In not sure how to shim it correctly and that the tolerances need to be.

So if anyone could shoot me some advise or a procedure or even link me to a tutorial that would be most appreciated.

Unless you intend to re-build it on a regular basis it is probably not worth the investment in the tools to do the job properly.
You would be better to get a professional job done as the cost would be about the same as buying the tools and if they
get it wrong it is their problem, not yours !

Take it to a diff shop.

Or read the manual and buy the necessary stuff to do the job. Even then pretty sure diffs are like rotaries and you need to gain some wizardry to get them right.

Also, it's CW&P. It stands for crownwheel and pinion.

Diffs are easy to do, need at least a dial gauge. Can make a tool to adjust the pinion gear.

And a vice or something to hold it completely still.

Ive got all that at work man. have you done one before Jake?

I've done normal collapsible pinion spacer but not a solid one, solid one you just have to stuff around with spacers to get it right. If you've got all the stuff to do it just give it a go not hard to do just a pain in the ass with the solid spacer if you're lazy, haha.

The only reasoni say take it to a diff shop is, I took my diff to a supposed wizard class mechanic whose comes recommended from many people. When I got then diff back, it whined noticeably when it didn't make any noise before. Pulled the diff back and took to the closest diff and gearbox guy down the road from me and he was like "who the hell did this?!?"

I dunno, it's just a pain in the ass if you have to pull the diff back out to fix it because you didn't get it right the first time so I let someone else deal with it.
