    Default W55 to 4AGE 16v

    Hey Lads,

I have had a look around in the tech section for info on this. Have read a few ways to do it. I have a complete T50 gearbox I bought with an engine conversion that turned out to be a dud. I have heard the T50's are a weak box when it comes to giving them a bit of a hard time. What is the most common way to get the W55 to fit onto the 4AGE?

Will all I need is a W55 box, adaptor plate and a T50 bell housing? Plus a clutch etc? Or is it more complicated than that?

    Cheers.

    Daniel.

    My list:
W55 (need shifter, fork, bearing carrier)
    Nite parts bell housing
    Rt142 slave
Custom clutch line (as it moves slave to drivers side)
custom clutch (depends on flywheel, but basically a re-spline of a 4age clutch will do)
    Custom cross member
Custom tailshaft (or front half from ra40(?) And rear half from which ever diff you're running)

There is a bit to it, but re-sale is usually good.

Thanks heaps dude, Looks like ill be saving then.

My T50 wouldnt let us down change into second gear. Goes in fine, just cant down change to it. Got the gearbox pulled down and 2 gear synchro is totally stuffed.. Overall the box is pretty well worn.. But yeah. So getting hooked up hopefully to get some new synchros in there just to get it going for now. It will be a bit of an expense to get in there but well worth it in the end as you say. As T50's dont last with a bit of a hiding hey? Blow a T50 a few times, might as well put in a W55 setup.

Are the W55's good for it?

    Thanks again Will.

    NA 16v a t50 will be fine.

my 20v with a button clutch didn't blow a t50 in 18 months of drifting.

I guess it depends how you treat it, i have had no luck with t50 boxes, syncros dont seem to put up with much abuse, quite a few times i've broken teeth of 2nd gear aswell, was only using stock bigport.

Going to W box was the best thing i ever did! no issues yet even with turbo 4ages ect.

Id recommend going W if you can! just my opinion

Cheers mate! I do work away, so I really wont be driving it as much. Plus on the West Coast we don't get as much drift track time here as you East Coasters. I'll just run the T50 for now. See how she performs with how I drive and how often I drive it. A W55 conversion will be on the cards later on down the track when I put a more mods onto the 4AGE. Good to hear thee W55's put up with turbo 4AGE's, that will be the plan later on down the track for mine.

Thanks mate, as much as I would love to start collecting bits for for the conversion now, I'll see how the T50 goes. Plus they are a little out of my price range at the moment.

Cheers for all the advice lads, greatly appreciated.
