    Default My 5th Rona!

    Sup Folks!

Firstly, I'd like to explain who I am and what I do.

Michael is the name, 24, studying Mechanical Engineering. I've been a Rota Head for the last 12 years (half my life) and for the last 7 years I've had head aches with the Mazda. Constantly changing things, upgrading, shit always breaks, engines are fucked. Currently Im ripping the engine out again, rebuild after a dodgey water seal, cleaning up the engine bay, going over the gearbox for the third time.. The car (Rx7 s3) has a 12at with a huge Mild Port, Microtech Lt10s, Gt37r Turbs with all the goodies and will be good for a solid 500 rwhp, the frustration of typing this is enough... So I'll stop.

For the last 4 years I have been buying Corona's for daily's. The first 3 were Auto, the 4th one was a 2.0L with Koni adjustables, ma61 brakes and struts, Jz10/11 soarer rims 15x6-20, locker, rebuilt engine, dodgey exhaust, repco bonnet scoop and a weber. It was a great car, perfect for small sections, anything under 70km/h in the wet no problem i.e hand brake entrys, transitions etc, though after 80km/h the car had no power and I couldnt skid. The car was limiting my driving, I had to clutch the thing 3 times in long sweepers in the Natio.

A 22re Corona on Gumtree came up for sale for a good price, I went and test drove it, inspected it and fell in love. 2 days later I went and picked it up. On the way home the car started smoking. Long story short these Indian ####s sold me an engine with 4 shot piston rings (I haven't forgotten about these ####s ).

I sourced a rebuilt engine off gumtree for $1250 with a w55, sold the w55 for $450 and had myself a motor for $800. I installed it with a good friend of mine who happens to be a specialist in Porsches. All was good for 3 weeks and then nothing.

3 months later the council stickered it and I had to move it, so I got down to investigating.. No spark at leads, dizzy, coil, ignitor.. You guesses it - Broken Timing chain.

Due to Studies I gave the car to a good friend/Mechanic Ali who also has a 22re turbo corona, he knows his shit. $3750 later on a full rebuild, braided lines, reco radiator, new t25/28 and other random shit the car was ready.

I have been driving the car now for the last 2 months and I havent had a problem. The car doesnt leak and oil, though recently I have discovered that the reco radiator is leaking slighlty from the top, It leaks about 50/60ml per week max I'd say. I'll be getting that looked at this week. The car drives so smoothly, power steering is great, air con, Stereo etc Im loving it, She doesn't miss a beat.

The plans for the car are to make it as reliable as possible before Getting her Drift ready (I actually went to the Natio last night with 2 mates to teach them how to drive, I lead. It started raining on the way back and I stepped on it in 2nd up a left turn and the dirty single legging bitch came out fucking well - Its been over a year since I've drifted properly.. My mate applauded me after the run was over at the lights exiting at Sutho).

    On the cards next are:

Install my Megasquirt ECU - I cant get the fucker to work/communicate with my PC, it could be a cable connect. Iv'e made the loom to plug into the existing loom, just have to run 3 or 4 wires - 02, knock, Ig and something else.
    Ma61 brake upgrade
Bilstein Adjustable shocks - I have s13 coil overs installed atm - The bilsteins should cost about $800 quoted from heasmans installed.
Rewire the dodgey speaker/amp wiring from front to back - Battery has been moved to the boot.
3 inch from cat back - Still running standard half way back from where the fucking cat use to be...
    Re gas the A/C
New bits of trim around the sides, rear bar and new front bar, and chrome window trim - most of which has been done now. I want to get it looking orig like my old st141. - the pics of the car have no side trim - the car now has side trim.
Drift wheel like a nice momo
    Hydraulic Hand brake
Hilux diff - Iv'e read a Vl turbo diff centre/r31 skyline centre which is the bw78 is a straight bolt in.. I spoke to the man of Diffs Con at Diff Technics and he told me this was full of shit haha half the people on these sites don't know what they're on about.. Can anyone prove him wrong?
Eventually a respray but not for a couple of years, its a Rona seriously who gives a fuck!
SR wing - who has one that I can buy??????
    Re badge it
    A good system

I'm just syked to be driving a car I enjoy, opposed to having a car That I love/hate that hasn't been on the road for 3 years. The Amount I've spent on my Mazda is Stupid, Toyota's are Church change compared to rotaries... I just wish I was into drifting before Rotaries.. I feel like I've got this mad car that I can't slide, In a sense I've almost lost interest. A 500rwhp car is undrivable in the natio, Unpractical on the street, But they are scary as shit to drive

My drifting bug is too strong, I can't wait to start building race cars in the future.

Anyway enough about my sitch, here are some pics of my car. The first pic is the Old st141 with the 2l, the rest are of the rt142.

    Enjoy

    Michael

The Old st141, pretty tidy besides the bonnet

The stock computer/ecu combo is alright. Nothing special, just for a bit of boost and flutter, goes extremely well on hi way driving. The motor is stock. It will boost up to 11 psi on a good day, and it fkn pulls man. I have to get the megasquirt in there asap, So I dont have to feather it onto boost.

Stock motors are good for 14psi or so, same with the t25/28 turbo's.

When its tuned I dont want to go over 10/11psi.

The wheels are 15x6 +20. Ma61's are 14x7 +-0 from memory. A set came with the car but I sold them, the 15's look much better. I have a set of 15x7 +15 simmons that might make their way onto it, just depends when the rest of the stuff is ready to get tail happy

    Fuel pump is stock.

I have a spare bosch 910 for it when The aftermarket ECU goes in. Injectors are refurbished/back to new specs flow tested at 200cc/min.

I could possibly find a 22re-T ECU for it but what for? Ill get it tuned maximum for what it is

On a quick note, Got fined $500 for expired licence, fucking dogs!

What turbo are you running? What turbo's do the standard 22re-t's come with?

Lceperformance have a lot of stuff.

Also has anyone done throttle body upgrades? I've heard an EL falcon will fit with slight modification..

    Assailant

I'll take the rear wing pm sent.

Also on a side note, they have those aluminium window shields to suit ke70's on rollaclub, does anyone know if they will fit the rona?

Ive got a ct 20 Toyota turbo. Which is the same that the 22ret came out with. Its pretty small turbo would probs be in full boost at 2000rpm and then die at 5 which is perfect
