Default Cracked 4age block at FWD engine mount

    Howdy partners,

I was converting a 16v 4agze from FWD to RWD yesterday when u came across this:

It is where the front engine mount attaches to inside the timing belt cover. The bolts were bent when i was taking it off, and i believe the car it was in previously did have a stack but was still drivable.
Just wondering if anyone has seen this before?

    Cheers, Will.

looks like either excessive force pulling on the bolt(the crash) or even the bolts bottomed out and someone was still smashing it with a rattle gun,

definitely due to crash, i pulled a ST 20V from the wreckers not too long ago that was in a front end crash, all looked good until timing cover was removed to find the same thing, engine bracket had yanked that whole section of block off the front of the engine.

you need a new block unless you want to do some seriously expensive repairs

The block on mine was a lot more damaged than yours seems to be,
and everything internally was perfect in mine, so i wouldn't worry about it Will!

your internals will be fine because you have a cracked area between the water galley and the outside of the engine. The way I see it is that for it to have enough force to go all the way to the bore this section in the front would of ripped right open.
