hey all, i know theres threads out there about sigma ( GH ) lca's into ke70's and stuff.. but i can never find much detail..

one thread iv seen say they fit straight in.. another says you need to re-drill the sway bar mount.. and more say about the sway bar + ball joint is tapered.

if anyone reading this has done the conversion themself, can you please give me some info on what you did, and what needs to be done?

also too, what does it mean by the balljoint is tapered? in what way is it?

    thanks alot!

    dan

You need to grind down the rubber bush a fair bit to fit. The swaybar mount will fit but it will be on the piss. re-drill if you want. Apparently the ball joint has a slightly different taper but I just jammed the toyota steering arm on and did it up tight. Never had an issue.

The taper on the ball joints is different, and to be honest just jamming something on and crossing your fingers is a terrible idea when it comes to something that directly effects your ability to control the car. The "proper" way to do it is machine the sigma taper into your Toyota steering arms and redrill the swaybar mount hole. Much better way to go is extending the Toyota arms in my opinion.

Would you possibly be able to do up a diagram or image of the part that needs to be modified ( the tapered part ) as I'm having trouble understanding exactly what part is the problem?

there are 2 ends of a control arm, one bolts to the body, and the other bolts to the steering arm, under the strut VIA the ball joint. take the "new" sigma ball joint and steering arm to a machine shop, and say. i want "this" to fit "this".
the sigma ball joint has a different taper to the toyota steering arm.
i got charged about $150 i think. it was years ago.

    its well documented

but they are shit, they are too long

the front is very over tracked compared to the rear

makes it step out and twitchy, they are a bitch to fit you dont need that much camber

not saying they cant work or you cant drive around the problem, but I wouldnt bother.
