Default thermostat housing, inline stat replacement

    Hey guys

My 4agte was running a bit hot and the thermostat was playing weird buggers becoz the water at the bottom of the radiator was cold. The guy who I got the car off said that he had hooked up the heater hoses not from the heater but from the block thru the thermostat and bypassing the heater so I renoved it and plumbed the heater thru the block. I bought an inline thermostat but now im unsure of which way to mount it into the hose. Like what direction. But im guessing its going to be toward the radiator from the water pump. Or where either. Would mounting it closer to the block be any better ??

    Thx again

The inline housing I got also takes any chev thermostat. So I also havent gotten a thermostat for it. Should I just get a 82 or 80 temp thermostat to match stock??

I would suggest the long side of the thermostat on the block side. I don't know if it's better closer to the block.

So does everyone think it will be oke without a bypass? ? Leaving the hoses plumbed thru the heater and going with an inline thermostat straight to the water pump. I wnt have a problem right?

you won't have to worry about that, all of my cooling system parts run without one as per many cars originally. You can put a 3mm hole in it to help bleed the air out though. Put it near the edge.
