3/4 is what we use, both shank and spherical bearing I.D you can use smaller ones but over engineering via bigger joints can't be a bad thing
5/8ths is also fine, pretty sure Slydar has similar if not that exact size on his equal setup
Hello
What size rod ends are others using for their trailing arms? I am leaning towards 5/8 with either 5/8 or 3/4in threads? I can make the bars and spacers easily at work.

Thanks Gilly. Thats what i thought but i was looking under a V8 Supercar before the holidays and they used 5/8 id joints. Im guessing more for the weight saving and they probably replace them more.
Brad
i use 1/2" which is borderline too small probably. but only for the upper arms.
i plan to use 5/8" for my lowers, currently i run stock lower arms.
3/4" is possibly better in some ways. one way thats not always obvious is wear rate. ive read before a larger rod end will out last a smaller one as it disperses the force over a larger contact area.
the spigot is also still pretty thin on a 5/8 rod end with a 12mm bore. prolly better in steel.
if you end up doing 5/8th id be keen on getting at least 8 misalignment spacers off you if youre keen to do a few extra's.
are the upper arms under less stress?

I would think the top arms would be under similar loads. The spacers im going to make will just be parallel, ie not have the groove for the rose joint to move into. There is almost no missalignment so regular spacers will work fine.
I wount be able to do them for another couple of weeks ill let you know.
Brad
i'd like to work on the theory that both the uppers and lowers should be the same size even if they are under different stress loads... go for bigger!
where are you guys getting your rod ends from and how much for?
I got my rod ends from
Good prices and they are nice looking ends. Ony time will tell how good they are.
