People say it has ba geometry I've felt both and there is next to no difference between 86 and Silvia front. You would want to out fresh gearbox oil in the box before you put it in because you won't be able to get to the filler plug on the gearbox with it in.

even with using spacers I still have to loosen the engine crossmember til the nuts only have a couple of turns left in them to get the engine/box past the steering rack. Once its past everything fits fine, then tighten up the engine crossmember back up.

I fill my box through the gearstick hole.

Good to hear an opinion from someone who has driven with both Toyota and Nissan front end.

It wouldn't be preferable, but if it's unavoidable

I don't understand how mounts were made and the engine can't fit in with rubber mounts??? I have done this swap twice now and both time I don't space the rack and it stays tight while the engine and gearbox goes in as one. The transmission tunnel gets a cut at the base of the firewall and the start of the tunnel and the hit up with a hammer then reweld. It helps also if You take of the rhs steering rack bracket and grind the tops off so its flush. Gives a little bit of clearance and helps with the engine twisting under load.
