I have been given an assignment for uni to write an essay on an object that you have an attachment to that is viewed in different ways by diffident people/groups.
So here I am getting the point of view of fellow 86 fans as to what it mean to them, how it 'talks' to you, what you love, what you hate but love it anyway.
If you want to stick your name at the end so I can quote you or I can use your screen name.
Also if you know any good quotes about the AE86 feel free to chuck them up here.

Love: The balance of driver input and car feedback. A car that trains the driver to drive better. People wondering how a solid axle car from the 80's can handle better than cars of today. Open mouths as you pass a higher powered car through a corner.
Hate: Rust.
More than just a car...... It's a way of life....... Essentially, I have devoted my life to these machines.....

AE86 to me is a car that looking at its shape never gets old. Has that retro feel when inside driver seat. while you driving you dont have all this high tec stuff. Its you and machine. Its light weight so it doesn't need much to go. Cars that were built in the 80's has less problems and not hard to fix aswell compared to newer cars. For me driving a 86 makes me feel that time has stopped just for a bit. As the world of cars is moving fast
feels like an extension of yourself, your work, your thinking
when you look at it, it just looks 'right'
you can express yourself with driving and the feeling the driving gives you

A merc that loses value over time or a hachi that retains value overtime and burns a hole in your wallet during the process, what some call a money pit. The money you lose on a merc is better spent on upgrading your hachi. For some its senseless waste of money to put into a 20 year old car when its better spent on paying of the loans. Why do people buy a hachi in the first place? I wanted one because of its cool retro look when all done up and was easy on my wallet during my uni days.

A hachi is car within our budgets (to begin with) that delivers the connection, the feel and emotion of driving at the limit, that a driver would expect to get when buying a Honda S2000 or a lotus elise , abliet at much lower speeds, but excluding this, it delivers what other sub $20k cars could never do...
Emotion, high revs and driver extension
