[QUOTE=sundee;922529]Want different slam an rb26 in it.
    Or a 26b quad rotor
There are reasons you won't see an rb20 in an 86. Or anything else for that matter.
The main one being a reliable power gain can be achieved with a lighter weight, smaller motor.
An rb20 would be a downgrade in any car.
Hence why you got it so cheap.

really rb20 down grade ? wtf are you for real, I agree that the rb20 is to heavy for an 86, but don't EVER UNDERESTIMATE AN RB20!!!, ive seen 10sec passes from these guys easy and considering the amount of drift events they have one there clearly not lacking, amutre......

[QUOTE=shammy;924285]Yes a downgrade. They are reliable and quite a strong motor....but they are old, laggy, heavy and make an s13 handle worse (r32 and cefiro people who change to sr20 rave about the improved front end feel)

..Which is what an ae86 is about. Not saying an rb20 in an ae86 wont be 'fast' but - effort vs results vs hacking up a semi rare car. What do you even want to do with it? Wont be legal, wont fit into any race catergories (except sports sedans which it will not be competitive in) By the time you spend the money on the areas the car will be lacking in the build price will be similar to most conversions...There is just more sensible options these days. If your heart is set on the rb20 buy an r32 shell for peanuts and it will all bolt in. Being different for the sake of being different.... I dont usually comment on these topics as 9/10 they end up an 'unfinished project' and it would be a shame to see another 86 needlessly go to the scrap yard
Take it as inspiration if you will. Good luck

[QUOTE=AJPS;924366]pretty much this. my mate build somthing similar out of bits and peices he and around and had the rb20 running in the corolla for peanuts. downside is 2 of the six cylinders are located behind the firewall and it is probley the hardest drift car to maintain. almost everything is a motor out job. even getting to the rear injector is motor out job.
but if you can do it for a price like >1k it's not that bad of a budget build if you have the toolage and knowlege/skills

Nice AE86's (and even average ones) are just getting hard to find.

Handling will be far superior (and overall far cheaper) if you chose an auto r31. Cheap as peanuts, more sense for handling department/comparative weight over the front wheels. Spare parts everywhere. No diff mods, easy as to bolt in.

If being different is your craving, paint it awesome colours, but please don't hack up am 86
