its the same as a corolla basically
if you want to have fun in it, in the hills etc
learn as stock as possible and upgrade as you go
but aim towards
lowering a bit, firming up, adding more aggressive wheel alignment settings, more lock (not as necessary as everyone thinks) and a set of matched wheels (not too wide or anything)replace some bushes, a nice seat and a steering wheel helps but no essential and learn - then you will have a base and can see where the car lacks
ra65 struts add some static camber and a brake upgrade, s13 camber tops fit, i have rca and lock spacers to suit
if you want to 'drift it'
sell the plates, add a lot of power, coilovers, lock the diff, cut and shut knuckles, buy huge wheels and a pallet of new chinese tyres 'strip it out' buy a car trailer and tow car and get a build thread and youre well on your way.....

It would help if you were a little more specific with your aims, budget, skills, experience and so on.
Generally I agree with Dave above though. The only thing I think is 100% required is a locked diff (or good LSD if you can afford it). Everything else is optional.
oh so good!!

My mate, car will be track only and he will be learning in it. Pretty much will be looking for it to be a solid package, just enough power to bake a bit but still be somewhat reliable (as drift cars go). Currently has a blown engine but when he decides what to put in it ill make sure he puts up a thread, think he's leaning towards an rb25.
an rb25? yes, cos that is the most logical engine to put into a corona...oh wait...no it isnt...
if he is "learning to skid" it as a track car, then why not look at something like an sr20, would make it a little easier to do the conversion and would be better handling wise than an rb25...
suspension wise, just do what everyone else does...coilovers, lock spacer, knuckles, rear springs and shocks, panhard (if live axle)
then just grab a seat, a wheel and a harness and cut skids...
and if it must be a 6...why not 2j...
Why not put a standard 22R in with a mild cam and go from there? He'll turn out to be a much better driver starting off with less power.
cmon guys he is learning to drift.......so obviously he needs an RB so he can bake tyres. Cause thats what all learners do, straight into 150km/h entries.
would spend more time hard parking in the pits than driving.
Learn to crawl before you start walking............
take it easy guys, we all started off with the idea that power was everything. we all share a common interest so instead of flaming people down, make your points and if they respond well then yeah, cool. if not flame the fuck out of them.
Jimmmmmeeeee has the right idea. I rock a 22re in my corona and try and drive it as hard as possible, bakes 3rd with an mx73 4.11 centre ( mines is an 86 avante ( IRS ) some cut down falcon springs, 16 way HSD ae86 rear shocks and a ma61 adjustable rear swaybar, the front has a lock spacer cut and shut ae86 knuckles, ae86 coilovers and 7kg springs. fun times even if the motor is quite tired!
