40's. There is little benefit to running 45's on an otherwise standard bigport as they'd need to be choked down anyway. The only reason you'd do this is if you had plans to build the motor in the near future. If not, just run 40's.
Hey Guys,
Just want some advice on the webers for my 86.
Currently running a Bigport 4age, with stocks cams.
Is it worth running 45s with stocks cams?
I read a thread saying its alright to run them with stock cams, as long as the tuner knows what they're doing. But I have also read that people run 40's as it is a better all rounder.
I will be using the 86 occasionally and will track it in the near future.
Any advice would be taken, as reading these threads has got me all confused LOL.
Cheers

What he said is true ^^^
i do have plans to to build the motor. Probably a set of poncams. I've read somewhere anything above 288 degrees is when I should start looking for 45's
Are you limiting to a standard rebuild with cams or are you going to be increasing the compression, doing port work, and running at 8,000 or more? If not, I'd still stick with the 40's. You'll pick up more streetability and maybe only lose out on power in high rpm.
Best bet would be to list out everything you have planned for the build and go and speak to the person who will be tuning it. Any mild build I would stick with 40's.
40mm Mikuni/Solex mate, japs just do shit better!!!! I've got 44PHH sidies on my bigport, just a lucky buy otherwise I woulda gone 40's. 272's and CR about 11.5:1 with a bit of extra stuff and some head work. They run really well, but like any carb it's a lot easier to keep them tuned rather than tune it right to start with. Spent days and days getting them roger dodger.
