16v is easier.
You'd need to add the rwd relocation stuff, which is dizzy relocation kit , water pump, velocity stacks etc.. And also headers if you don't have any (TRD copies i used from kaizen)
the manual ae71 have 3.9 and auto 4.1, but the borg is pov anyways
I paid $450 for a 7afe from a wrecker with 3 months warranty, only bought it cos it was in good nic and low km's, but as above it will be stripped down anyways

Here is the page from vic roads. Because it's not an engine combination that toyota released for your car it will need an engineer to sign off on it.
It's up to the engineer to decide if you have to upgrade anything else.
I wouldn't pay that much for a 7afe. Mine was $400, low k's with a warranty even after I told to guy what I was using it for.
oh okay now I understand it all (: ahah cheers mate.
I shouldn't have to do that if i use the big port head right? & i shouldn't have to use the knock sensor that the small port has...?
Actually that is fairly true, I guess I was not really using my head on that one.. well there is another 7afe for 450 but its done 220,000 i just didn't want to have to rebuild the bottom end (bore out & that sh*t haaha)
You would need to at least give the bores a hone as you would be changing the pistons and therefore rings anyway as new rings and old bores doesn't work. While you have the rods and pistons out it would be silly not to do bearings at the same time, so really you're probably looking at rebuilding it anyway. You could slap it together and hope for the best but it won't last all that long and won't have anywhere near the power a fresh rebuilt 7age would have anyway.
Yeah i guess that's true haha, if im using a 16v head i can use 20v ITB's? and just use a adapter?
i think you should just stick with a 4age for now
dont snap any wheel studs either
