Thanks all! Any feedback is welcome, next big problem is sorting out the clutch...
Thats sweet. Got a pretty similar (shitbox) ae71 project going, gota love it when the 4ac starts . Good shit.
Great work guys, great to see good mates working together on a project. I do not know what your objective with the 86 is? (Track , roadie or other usage ). But noticed you found a bit of rust !!! There will be more ---- so strip the car back to basics , gut the interior, take all the panels , spoiler and drive train out. Blast the car inside band out with a pressure washer ( with drain plugs out ) , then go on the hunt for RUST with a screw driver and grinder. That way you will know where you stand before you have spent money on other things. Also a disassembly tip-----photo everything before tacking it apart and get some sandwich zip bags and a marker pen and mark all parts and catalogue all bolts etc ----- it will make reassembly much easier . Keep the videos coming!!!!

thanks for the helpful tips guys, will give them a go later!
Bit of a drama with the paint stripping !!!! When I use a paint stripper , I sand the area with say 20 grit (you are trying to grove the paint ) apply stripper , do not cover and be aware of toxic fumes . Leave on as per manufactures time scale . Then use a scrapper to get the bulk of the paint off. Then water blast or sand or do both. Fine sand , then clean and degrease the panel . Then seal it with etch primer . Then panel repair if needed, primer an paint .
Sounds easy !!! But take your time , do each step properly ( don't short cut ) and you will achieve a good result.

Thanks aircobra that's really useful info! Will give it a hot crack this weekend
I cant believe:
1- Someone has done that to ANY car......
2- You got the car running that well, it really sounds like you could just start driving it with no worries.
