    Default The Blue Turd

Got this on the weekend, 82 ke70 flat front, a few dints, all major rust has been done, standard 4k-c the vacuum lines are all there surprisingly everything is stock except for window tint. Got plans for this when I get the dough, it'll be budget for the time being, last night I sort if prepared for a road worthy, being an apprentice mechanic I should be shun for some of the thing I had to do Click image for larger version.

I rolled it up on the hoist at work to check it over, when you geared down it was spluttery, at first I thought it was the points gap, but after lifting the bonnet and noticing that the fuel pump was leaking terribly from the bleeder hole, I figured my diaphragm was shagged, luckily though my boss has a buggy with a 4k bolted in it, I unbolted it and pulled both apart. Curiosity killed the cat. Click image for larger version.

Believe it or not the one with the rusty valve plate was the good one. After I bolted all that together, I figured I'd check timing, it was set to 15 degrees advanced I wound it back to 8 and set the mixture again, runs sweet now.
Then I noticed an exhaust leak, there was a few rust holes in the resonator, it was about 9.30 and I was tired and wanted to go home but I had I booked in for a roady the next morning, I'm not that brilliant with welding so I figured I'd have to dodgy it a lil, Click image for larger version.

Surprisingly it worked I couldn't believe it, I roughed it up abit and threw some primer on it, so hopefully it'll pass the roady, my door hinges are completely screwed but I've got a set on there way.
In my lunch break today I figured I'd use a bit of strap exhaust pipe to make a pig pipe tip, it'll do for now but I want twins that'll curve up near the bumper

Got rego Friday, didn't really get to do anything on this throughout the weekend, mostly because I had to help a mate with his, he has a four speed and a s series diff, he sat on about 4-5000 rpm for two hours from toowoomba to qr in Bris, points melted together and coil shat itself. Go figure. Short ratio diffs don't like highways
