    Bit of an update.

After no success with auto electricians/them charging WAY too much to wire the thing (quoted around 2k just for wiring) I'm doing a few hours each day to get it all finished. Not a chance I'm willing to pay that amount. I'm nearly done with all the wiring, a few more afternoons and I'll be finished.

Still hooking up the dash cluster etc but so far i've got lights working, blinkers and ignition computer all finished up so there's really not that much left. Fuel pump, stereo and wiper motor still to do.

So the 240K dash I'm putting into this had a stuffed tacho. All the electronics in the back of it were melted apart so I've replaced it with an auto meter unit with the original tachometer face.

So first up, get both units out of the casing to compare if it'll work

Bit of chopping/modifying to get the new one in there

Screw on the original face and it's all in and working!

Now the dashboard. This has been a mission and a half but it's finally close to being finished.

I started out grinding the cracks in it then hot glueing them back up so they won't crack again.

However the cracks were just getting worse and worse as I was going. I would've ended up with a dash made of glue. I made the call that the original foam was just too far gone. Let's get the grinder out and replace the lot with new foam.

So I sprayed expanding foam into the holes I cut out, then Shaped it by sanding/filing it all down

Then I did the next few sections until the whole lot was brand new foam

And because of the new Instrument cluster, sections had to be filled in for it to fit nicely.

So at the moment I've got to finish smoothing the dash off, get it sprayed in texture coat, finish off the wiring, then plumb in the fuel lines. From there I'll have the engine cranking/running roughly.

    All in good time!

Using the original harness, adapted in to fit the 4age, New dash cluster, New KE70 combination switch and ignition computer.

It's been a lot of testing what runs what and which wires are specifically for each part (i.e. high beam wires vs. low beam) which has chewed up most of my time, along with setting up new relays/flasher units. Everything has also been hidden in the bay which was also added another heap of time onto it because things had to be extended/shortened etc to fit where it should be.

It's so close and I'm so stoked that I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel on this project!

If you get stuck with wiring shoot me a PM, i've put quite a few 4ages into cars over the years and know what is needed pretty well.

Success! Got the engine turned over for the first time yesterday. Engine bay wiring is finished which means it can get all taped up and finished off!

Interior wiring is also nearly completed with the combination switch wired in. Only things left to be wired up: Fuel pump, secondary dash cluster, stereo, cig lighter, tacho.

It's all fairly straight forward from here on out!
